VW wants to reconnect with its lost audience, and nostalgia is one powerful tool they can use to do so. By comparing ideas, songs, and sayings from the past with the reality of the present, VW can rejoin the whole family – from former or current "hippy" grandparents, to their Gen-X kids, and to their tech-savvy and nostalgia-loving millennial or Gen-Z grandkids.
